Grovewood house is situated in the western lakes
in the small rural village of Sandwith which lies
midway between the coastal village of St.Bees &
the harbour town of Whitehaven, on the western
coast of Cumbria. Perfect for those starting/
finishing Wainwrights coast to coast path
(beginning in St.Bees) or the C2C cycle route
(beginning in Whitehaven). For those who are
staying with us for either these purposes we will
be offering free transport to the start of either
route.
Sandwith is small & very peaceful we have a
village pub & there are many walks from our
doorstep including the dramatic sandstone cliffs
of St.Bees head. St.Bees itself is a few minutes
drive away offering two pubs a post office &
a restaurant. Whitehaven is also a short drive
away & has a picturesque harbor with a
wealth of shops, supermarkets pubs &
restaurants.
On our doorstep of course is the beautiful lake
district including Ennerdale, Loweswater &
Wasdale "Britains favorite view". but to mention
a few.
